In the past week, a lot of my clients have been suffering with winter dry scalp. Its funny how when people seek flakes, they automatically assume they have dandruff. Though there are people who suffer with dandruff, its far fewer than those who suffer with dry scalp. Dandruff is a fungus, usually yellow in color and sometimes has an odor. Most people who suffer dandruff also suffer with an over production of oil. Dry scalp is merely not producing enough oil which tends to happen during the winter months. If you are not sure, consult with your hair-care professional, because using products that treat dandruff when you actually have dry scalp, can do more harm than good and vice verse. Dandruff never goes away, we can only use products and diet to control this condition.
However, applying light oils to the scalp and conditioners can elevate the signs of dry scalp. I hope this take some of the guessing game out of knowing the condition of your scalp.
